Vivek Chaturvedi appointed as Board Member in Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs
He will succeed. Shri Vivek Ranjan, who is a Board Member for Tax Policy and Legal, will have completed his tenure on August 31, 2025.

New Delhi, 4 September 2025:Shri Vivek Chaturvedi has been appointed as the Member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet. Chaturvedi is currently serving as the Principal Director General of Vigilance and Chief Vigilance Officer at the Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs. He is an IRS-C&IT officer of the 1990-batch.
He will succeed. Shri Vivek Ranjan, who is a Board Member for Tax Policy and Legal, will have completed his tenure on August 31, 2025.
This appointment has been earmarked as a transition of leadership change in the taxation body of the government, as it has been informed that two other board members, including the chairman, are going to retire on 30 November, 2025.
As a vital role player in the field of tax administration and facilitator of the compliance mechanism in the tax structure, Chaturvedi has a significant amount of extensive experience.
