Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited - Chairman & Managing Director

Mr. Koppu Sadashiv Murthy assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on November 1, 2023. An Electrical Engineering graduate from Bhopal University with an MBA in Finance, he brings over 34 years of rich experience across BHEL's corporate and manufacturing operations.

Before becoming CMD, he served as Executive Director heading Corporate Operations Management and also held additional charge as CMD of Bharat Pumps & Compressors Limited (BPCL). Since joining BHEL in 1989 at its Jhansi unit, he has worked across key facilities in Hyderabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, and Delhi, building expertise in operations, project execution, strategy, and commercial management.

Mr. Murthy played a pivotal role in restoring BHEL to profitability in FY 2021-22 and FY 2022-23 after two years of losses. At BHEL's Varanasi unit, he delivered exceptional performance during the COVID-19 period, achieving strong profitability, record-low inventory levels, and a healthy cash surplus.

As CMD of BPCL, he successfully led asset monetization worth ₹80 crore and resolved several long-pending commercial and contractual issues.

Under his leadership, BHEL is focused on delivering world-class equipment, timely project execution, and supporting India's infrastructure and energy growth. His proven leadership and results-driven approach continue to guide BHEL toward greater success.
