CANBERRA/SYDNEY: Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, India's Defence Minister, witnessed a significant demonstration of India-Australia interoperability and growing defence cooperation today, as he travelled from Sydney to Canberra onboard a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) KC-30A multirole tanker transport aircraft.

The 2024 agreement formalised air-to-air refuelling cooperation between the RAAF and the Indian Armed Forces, allowing the RAAF’s KC-30A aircraft to refuel Indian military aircraft. This arrangement, which is India's first such implementing arrangement with any partner, is seen as a major step in enhancing the operational reach and interoperability of the Indian Air Force, particularly in the strategically vital Indo-Pacific region.
