The event underscores the tangible benefits of the defence and strategic partnership between New Delhi and Canberra, particularly the landmark Air-to-Air Refuelling agreement signed by the two nations in 2024.

The 2024 agreement formalised air-to-air refuelling cooperation between the RAAF and the Indian Armed Forces, allowing the RAAF’s KC-30A aircraft to refuel Indian military aircraft. This arrangement, which is India's first such implementing arrangement with any partner, is seen as a major step in enhancing the operational reach and interoperability of the Indian Air Force, particularly in the strategically vital Indo-Pacific region.
