NEW DELHI, JANUARY 22, 2026 – Prasar Bharati has extended the application deadline for two of India's most prestigious broadcasting leadership positions – Director General (Akashvani) and Director General (Doordarshan). The posts, carrying Level-16 pay scale (₹2,05,400–2,24,400), are now open for applications until February 15, 2026 for advance copies and February 28, 2026 for applications forwarded through proper channel.

Eligibility Criteria:
The positions are open through promotion/deputation (including short-term contract) to:
Category I: Group 'A' officers of All India Services or Central Services who:

Hold analogous posts on regular basis, OR

Have 1 year regular service in Level-15, OR
-
Have 4 years regular service in Level-14

Plus: Experience in media/mass communication or public administration
Category II: Officers of autonomous bodies, statutory organizations, PSUs, universities or recognized research institutions who:

Hold analogous posts on regular basis, OR

Have 1 year regular service in Level-15/equivalent, OR

Have 4 years regular service in Level-14/equivalent

Plus: Degree from recognized university + minimum 25 years' experience in posts at/above Level-10, with at least 15 years in senior executive position in media/mass communication/policy planning/public administration
