NTPC NRHQ signs MoA with Lucknow Zoo for Environmental Sustainability
Lucknow: NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) continues to strengthen its commitment towards environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation through focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Lucknow.
In continuation of its on-going CSR engagement, NTPC NRHQ entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on 10.02.2026 with the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, Lucknow, aimed at further promoting environmental sustainability, ecological balance, and animal welfare.
The MoA was formally exchanged between Shri Sanjay Kumar Biswal, IFS, Director, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden, and Shri Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, in the august presence of Shri S. N. Panigrahi, CGM (HR), NTPC NRHQ, and Shri Dinesh Badola, Ranger, Lucknow Zoo & other officials.
Under this initiative, NTPC NRHQ will extend financial assistance for the adoption of four (04) Lions and three (03) Royal Bengal Tigers, along with the installation of two (02) multi-tap water facility systems at the zoo, thereby supporting animal welfare and enhancing visitor amenities.
It is pertinent to mention that during the last financial year, NTPC NRHQ had also extended significant support to the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden through the adoption of two animals — a White Tigress and a Giraffe. The support also included animal care and upkeep, provision of a Battery Operated Vehicle to facilitate ease of movement for senior citizens and visitors, construction of an entry plaza as a visitor rest area, and procurement of an immobilization gun along with supporting equipment.
This initiative reflects NTPC NRHQ’s sustained efforts towards wildlife conservation, environmental stewardship, and responsible nation-building through impactful CSR initiatives.
