PESB Recommends Shri M.G. Balasubrahmanya for the Post of Director (Human Resources) at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

New Delhi – The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Shri M.G. Balasubrahmanya, currently serving as Executive Director (Human Resources) at the Corporate Office of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bangalore, for the prestigious position of Director (Human Resources) at HAL. The recommendation was made following a rigorous selection process that involved interviews with ten highly qualified candidates from various public sector enterprises.

The selection meeting, held to fill the top HR role at HAL, saw the participation of senior executives from across the country. The candidates interviewed for the position included:

The PESB, after evaluating the candidates' experience, leadership qualities, and vision for the role, found Shri M.G. Balasubrahmanya to be the most suitable candidate for the position. His extensive experience in human resources management within HAL and his deep understanding of the organization's culture and operational dynamics were key factors in the decision.

The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. Once confirmed, Shri M.G. Balasubrahmanya will take charge of one of the most significant HR leadership roles in India's public sector.

 

Shri Atasi Baran Pradhan

The current Director (Human Resources) of HAL, Shri  Shri Atasi Baran Pradhan , has been instrumental in steering the organization's HR functions during a critical phase of growth and transformation. Under his leadership, HAL implemented several key initiatives, including talent development programs, employee welfare schemes, and digital transformation in HR processes.

Shri Atasi Baran Pradhan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (Hons.) and PG Degree in Personnel Management & Labour Welfare from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He also holds Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from University Law College, Bhubaneswar.

He joined Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in 2005 and has 35 years of rich and varied experience in Human Resource function serving in both Public and Private Sectors with exposure to various industries that are dealing with Engineering, Metallurgy, Paper, Aerospace & Defence that are situated in various parts of India.

During his service career, he has been instrumental in introduction of IT-enabled HR Systems like Personnel information System, Performance Management System, ERP, Introduction of other On-line HR interventions, etc. Some of the major accomplishments of Shri Pradhan includes substantial number of wage agreements achieved through Collective bargaining, improving efficiency of workmen through various methods like piece rate wages, reduction in Standard Man Hours & overtime and introduction of TPM concepts including Kaizen and Fugai. He has streamlined the Contract Labour System wherever necessary and played a key role in outsourcing of non-core HR activities like Canteen, Transport Services, Security of Township, Maintenance of Guest house etc.

Shri Pradhan has wide exposure to whole gamut of HR functions like Industrial Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Wage Negotiation & Settlements, Statutory Compliance, HR Policy formulation, Manpower Planning, Recruitment & Career Development, Skill Development & Training, Performance Management, Facilities Management and Legal Affairs.

Prior to taking over as Director (Human Resources), he was holding the post of Executive Director (Human Resources).

Under Shri A B Pradhan’s leadership, HAL’s HR function is focused on attracting and retaining talent, encouraging a culture of innovation and excellence, and aligning its workforce with the Company’s strategic goals. With his extensive experience and profound knowledge of HR practices across industries, Shri A B Pradhan continues to play a pivotal role in shaping HAL’s Human Capital strategy.

Shri Pradhan was holding the additional charge of Director (Finance) of the Company from  1st September, 2024 to 22nd  October, 2024.

He is Nominee Director in Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (Section 8 Company).

He is not related to any other director of the Company and does not hold shares in the Company.
