1.1 acre resettlement plot cash compensation in lieu of plot by giving 0.27 acre land to MCL
New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is going to give permanent employment to 11 members of a family along with 1.1 acre land at resettlement site/ cash in lieu of plot for acquiring just 0.27 acre coal bearing land at Talcher coalfields in Angul district of Odisha.
A family of late Sridhar Pradhan s/o Chinta Pradhan of village Hilloi under Jagannath Area are being given 11 jobs along with 1.1 acre resettlement plot/ cash in lieu of plot for acquiring 0.27 acre land.
It is pertinent to mention here that now they are demanding 16 lakh for each in lieu of resettlement plot of 10 decimal each, which would come to Rs 1.76 crore. With Rs 3.16 lakh to each as building assistance, the total compensation for resettlement will be Rs 2.1 crore for acquisition of 0.27 acre.
Further, if the family opts for cash in lieu of employment, the company would have to pay at the rate of 16 lakh each, which would come to Rs 1.76 crore.
In view of this, total compensation for acquiring a land of 0.27 acre will cost MCL more than Rs 3.87 crore.
On an average during the current fiscal, the company is providing one job for 0.35 acre of land it is acquiring in the coal bearing area.
While one job is entitled to a family against acquisition of two acre land in coal bearing area in other states of the country, MCL, which follows the liberal policy of Odisha state, offers employment to each major member of the family, including grand-son, grand-daughter and unmarried sister, for acquiring their homestead, irrespective of area, with all compensation as applicable as per LAAR Act now.
