IREL, AERB organised ‘37th DAE Safety & Occupational Health Professionals Meet
The theme of the meet for industrial safety was “Self-Regulation for Safety” and that for Occupational Health was “Challenges and Opportunities in Occupational Health during COVID-19 Pandemic”.
New Delhi: IREL (India) Limited along with Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) jointly organized the ‘37thDAE Safety & Occupational Health Professionals Meet (SOHPM)during Oct 8-9, 2021 in Mumbai. The theme of the meet for industrial safety was “Self-Regulation for Safety” and that for Occupational Health was “Challenges and Opportunities in Occupational Health during COVID-19 Pandemic”.
Distinguished personalities i.e. Shri. K. N. Vyas, Chairman, AEC & Secretary, DAE, Shri G. Nageswara Rao, Chairman, AERB and Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, BARC graced the inaugural function.
Setting the tone of the conference, Shri D Singh highlighted the significant role played by Safety in all spheres of life and the need for self-regulation, which the new world order has taught us amidst the Pandemic. The patrons i.e. Chairman, AEC & Secretary, DAE; Chairman, AERB and Director, BARC gave valuable inputs on self-discipline in safety, radiological events, safety management of contract workmen, etc and also placed on record, special appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the covid warriors across all DAE units to ensure minimal disruption of activities on account of the Pandemic.
During the occasion, the Monograph on Industrial Safety & Occupational Health was released by Chairman AERB while the booklet on Industrial Safety & Fire Statistics was released by Director, BARC. A Compendium on Rare Earths & Heavy Minerals was prepared specifically for the event to highlight the operations of IREL (India) Limited along with the range of diversified products, which was launched by Chairman, AEC, and Secretary, DAE.
As in previous years, the 37thDAE-SOHPM provided a platform for all the DAE units to share their operational experiences for enhancing industrial safety and mitigate the emergency conditions at the works.
