BCCL Coal Production up by 21.7%; Dispatch registers 41.9%

The public sector undertaking engaged in mining of coal and allied activities has achieved 21.7% growth in coal production in the current financial year as compared to the corresponding period of last year till March 01, 2022.

New Delhi: Bharat Cooking Coal India, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited records growth in coal production and dispatch as on March 01, 2022. The public sector undertaking engaged in mining of coal and allied activities has achieved 21.7% growth in coal production in the current financial year as compared to the corresponding period of last year till March 01, 2022.

BCCL is truly committed to meeting the energy aspirations of the nation. However, the company achieved a growth of 41.9% in the supply of coal to its consumers as on March 01, 2022, which has exceeded the last year's supply of coal during the same period.
 
BCCL occupies an important position as it forms the coal in bulk in the country. BCCL meets about 50% of the total prime coking coal requirement of the integrated steel sector. 
 
Presently, the Company operates 36 coal mines, which include eleven underground, sixteen open cast & nine mixed mines in the year 2020. The company also operates 8 coal washeries and 4 are under construction. The mines are divided into 13 zones (including the washery division) for administrative convenience.
