CIL chairman appealed employees on strike to go back to work
New Delhi: CIL chairman Shri Pramod Agrawal appeales employees on strike to go back. In the appeal he said that you are aware that Central Trade Unions have called for Strike in Coal Sector from 2nd to 4th July 2020. Some of you have expressed your perceived cause of concern, over commercial mining, through a protest by staying away from the work today.
Hon'ble Minister of Coal and Secretary (Coal) while addressing the Charter of Demands have reassured that there was no question of privatization of Coal India or de-merger of CMPDI from CIL. Also, no coal block of CIL would be given away for commercial coal mining. There would be no adverse effect on present or future employment on this reason. Government of India has been increasing CIL's coal resource base by allocation of blocks to strengthen its role.
Considering the COVID situation in the country and the international scenario, Coal India's role assumes all the more importance and I earnestly appeal to you to resume your duties in the larger interest of the nation.
