New Delhi: Shri M Venkaiah Naidu, Hon'ble Vice President of India on Sunday visited Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Vikrant being built by Cochin Shipyard Limited. Hon'ble VP and his family were given a detailed brief about the mighty vessel.
He was accompanied by Hon'ble Kerala Governor Shri Arif Mohammad Khan, Minister Shri P Rajeev, Rear Admiral Antony George, The Chief of Staff of Southern Naval Command, and Shri Madhu S Nair, Chairman, and Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
INS Vikrant, also known as Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 1 (IAC-1), is an aircraft carrier constructed by the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for the Indian Navy. Vikrant is scheduled to be commissioned into service by August 2022, with flight trials of aircraft expected to be completed by mid-2023. The total cost of the project was approximately Rs 23,000 crore (US$3.1 billion) at the time of the first sea trials.
