Braithwaite and Co. Ltd Celebrates World Environment Day 2020
New Delhi: Message from Mr Yatish Kumar, CMD on World Environment Day 2020 to be celebrated on 5th June, 2020 World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June as designed by UN General Assembly in the year 1972, on the first day of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment.
The air we breathe, the water we drink, the sun rays that reach us, and the food that we consume every day, are all gifts from the environment, and as such, it becomes important that they are respected, their values understood. The significance of World Environment Day is therefore a reminder to us to not take nature for granted and to read the signs, understand them and act accordingly.
The theme for 2020 World Environment Day is biodiversity– a concern that is both urgent and existential. Recent events, from bushfires in Brazil, the United States, and Australia to locust infestations across East Africa – and now, a global disease pandemic – demonstrate the interdependence of humans and the webs of life, in which they exist.
The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises, and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment.
It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices.
It’s time to build back better for People and Planet.
This World Environment Day, it’s Time for Nature. Let's take it in the above spirit.
