NEW DELHI- Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has recently commissioned its latest static frequency converter, which is set to provide pure sine wave power to all its docks and quays. This new addition, coupled with its 1.6 MWp PV solar power, enables CSL to supply clean energy to 60 Hz category ships.
CSL has always been committed to energy efficiency and sustainable practices. The new static frequency converter is a testament to this commitment. The state-of-the-art energy-efficient converter has a capacity of 600KVA and 750 Amps, making it one of the most advanced pieces of technology in its class.
The inauguration of the static frequency converter was done by Shri Madhu S Nair, CMD, CSL. The new static frequency converter has several features that make it a game-changer in the industry. For instance, it has a high-efficiency rating, which means that it consumes less energy while providing the same amount of power as traditional converters. Additionally, it has a low harmonic distortion, which ensures that the power supplied to the ships is of the highest quality. This reduces the risk of damage to the ship's electrical systems, which can be costly to repair.
Moreover, the static frequency converter has a compact design, which makes it easy to install and maintain. It is also equipped with advanced monitoring and control systems that ensure its smooth operation and prevent downtime. This not only improves the reliability of the power supply but also reduces the need for maintenance, saving time and resources.
In conclusion, the commissioning of the new static frequency converter by CSL is a significant milestone in the company's journey towards energy efficiency and sustainability. The new converter, with its high-efficiency rating, low harmonic distortion, and advanced monitoring and control systems, is expected to help CSL reduce its carbon footprint while improving its operational efficiency. It is a remarkable achievement and one that deserves recognition in the industry.
