Overall, Coal India's total production for the April-December timeframe reached 543.4 million tonnes (MT), compared to 531.9 MT during the same period last year.
Coal India’s subsidiary BCCL, SECL report decline in coal production in FY25
State-owned Coal India Limited (CIL) reported a decline in coal production during the April-December period of the current financial year for two of its subsidiaries. Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) saw a decrease of 2.6% in coal production, while South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) experienced a decline of 9.4%. This information was disclosed in a regulatory filing by CIL.
On the other hand, other subsidiaries of Coal India, including Northern Coalfields Limited, Eastern Coalfield Limited (ECL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), and Western Coalfields Limited, reported an increase in coal production during the same period.

Coal India accounts for over 80 percent of domestic coal output. The company has set a target to produce 838 MT of coal in 2024-25. The PSU produced 773.6 million tonnes of coal in 2023-24 but fell short of its production target of 780 MT for the fiscal.
