Curb transmission loss CM tells UERC
Dehradun. Chief Minister Harish Rawat instructed the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) chairman Subhash Kumar to draft a proposal to curb line loss across the state. He said the electricity distribution system should be strengthened.
He expressed his views at a meeting with Subhash Kumar at the Bijapur guesthouse here yesterday . Rawat said the commercial and private power tariff was cheaper than neighbouring states, which was conducive for industries. He instructed Kumar to chalk out a plan to further curtail the power tariff.
“More small hydropower projects should be installed. Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas should be involved while constructing hydropower projects in the hilly region,” he said.
The UERC chairman presented Independent Power Producers Association of India award to Rawat. The UERC had received the award after being adjudged the most progressive state electricity regulatory commission among 16 states of the country at a function in Goa on September 24. The Tribune
