DVC Receives Award of Excellence from the Central Water Commission and World Bank Under DRIP
NEW DELHI: The Panchet Dam of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has been adjudged the best dam amongst 250 dams in the country for quality of rehabilitation works and safety requirements under the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) of the CWC and World Bank. The award of excellence was conferred upon DVC by the Chairman, CWC on 30.05.2017 at New Delhi.
The scope of the DRIP project includes rehabilitation and improvement of dams and associated appurtenances, Dam Safety Institutional Strengthening in participating states and CWC, and project management. The project started in 2012 would be completed by 2020. The DRIP covers 3 dams of DVC namely Maithon, Panchet and Konar with an allocation of Rs 182 crore. Funded by the World Bank, CWC is implementing the DRIP across the country through nine implementation agencies.
