NEW DELHI- Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2023,the residential training workshop for girl students started at NTPC Talcher Kaniha on May 12. The workshop, a flagship CSR initiative of NTPC Limited was inaugurated at NTPC Kaniha by Executive Director, NTPC Kaniha, Shri K S Sundaram in the presence of Shri A. K. Sehgal, General Manager(O&M), Heads of Departments, Members of Ladies Club, Representatives of Unions & Associations and parents of participants of the workshop.
Girls students, numbering 103, and in the age group of 10 -12 years of Class V studying in 20 Government nearby schools are participating in the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Sundaram said that GEM was a special initiative of NTPC to focus on empowerment of girls by imparting education through multiple activities designed to change the mindset of the girl students and encourage them to achieve their goals and ambitions in life.

The Girl Empowerment Mission is a flagship initiative of NTPC Limited, which aims to empower girls and young women through education, mentorship, and leadership development. The program focuses on providing quality education and career guidance to young girls, especially those from underprivileged communities, and supporting them in their journey towards achieving their dreams.

The Girl Empowerment Mission 2023 program will offer a range of activities, including academic support, skill development workshops, mentorship, and leadership training, to help young girls and women realize their full potential. The program is being conducted across NTPC stations throughout the country.
NTPC is committed to sustainable development and is actively involved in various social and environmental initiatives across the country.
