Independence Day Celebrations at Goa Shipyard Ltd
Wasco: The 74th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL). Cmde B B Nagpal,NM,IN(Retd), CMD, GSL unfurled the National flag at GSL campus, which was synchronized with the singing of National Anthem.
In view of the precautionary measures due to COVID-19 pandemic, the function this year was held with limited number of invitees and employees witnessed the program through Live Streaming.
Cmde B B Nagpal in his address said “Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, GSL has been able to meet the targets by adopting innovative measures and technology. In the last few months, GSL has launched ships and completed critical modernization milestones owing to the collective efforts of all employees. As a responsible corporate, GSL has been implementing all precautionary measures to ensure health and welfare of its employees.” CMD complemented the Corona warriors from Medical deptt, Administration and CISF for their invaluable contributions in GSL’s fight against COVID 19 pandemic.
CMD brought out the substantial progress made by GSL on all its Projects and commended the Executives & Workers for their contribution towards nation’s goal of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”. In recent days, GSL has won important Shipbuilding contracts amidst stiff competition from both Public and Private Yards, which shows GSL’s competitiveness and efficient working. In order to further improve its processes in line with international standards, GSL on 13th Aug 2020 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT, Goa for introducing emerging technologies like Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite element Methods, automated welding technology, Smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Digitization technologies and Artificial Intelligence in its products and processes.
On the occasion, CMD felicitated outstanding employees with ‘Commendation Awards’ and ‘Special Commendation awards’ for exemplary work in their respective areas.
