MCL Launches CSR project Handyman
New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. has launched an innovative CSR program “Handyman”, a customized vocational training module for developing a front-line workforce in Agri equipment.
It will train youth in multi-skilled services like repair of agricultural tools together with electrical, mechanical, and welding to youth living in its peripheral areas. The course has been designed jointly by MCL, CIPET Bhubaneswar, and the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology.
MCL has selected 24 youth from its rural command areas who will undergo months of training at CIPET Bhubaneswar. A farmer need not take his breakdown equipment to faraway places as ‘Handyman’ will be there at his doorstep to do the repairs.
The trained youth will earn a sustainable livelihood by remaining in their village while simultaneously looking after parents, farmland and livestock. Hence, he will not miss out on the socio-cultural bonding with family and community.
