MCL sets up sanitary napkin production unit under CSR
The target production cost would be rupees 8 per packet of 8 pads and the target selling price would be rupees 10.
Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has established a napkin production unit at Birsingagarh village in Jujomora block, Sambalpur as part of the ongoing “Livelihood and Quality of Life” project assisted by BAIF Foundation.
The village has 200 households. The unit will be run by a women self-help group. Initially, a 7-member SHG would take up the
production. More women will be included as the production scales up. The target production cost would be rupees 8 per packet of 8 pads and the target selling price would be rupees 10.
Hand holding is being provided by BAIF, the implementing organization of the Company’s CSR project. The initiative aims to bring dignity to the life of rural women folk by breaking the age-old state of abuse. It will be an all-woman micro-venture making them earn a livelihood and contribute to the family’s economy.
