NALCO Observes Van Mahotsav with Plantation Drives
Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU of Govt. of India, observed the week-long Van Mohatsav with massive plantation drives at company’s units and offices. In the premises of state-of-the-art Nalco’s Research and Technology Centre (NRTC), located at Bhubaneswar, a mass plantation drive was undertaken in association Odisha Forest department today. Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, planting a sapling and formally launched the mass plantation drive at NRTC. Shri Kedar Kumar Swain, DFO of Chandaka Division, all Directors of NALCO, Senior officials and employees in large numbers participated with much enthusiasm and planted saplings of various fruits & medicinal plants in the NRTC premises.
Stressing the need for restoration of greenery, particularly after ‘Fani’ cyclone, Dr Chand shared the company’s plans on year-long afforestation drives at multiple locations in Bhubaneswar and other areas. 'Besides, taking up plantation drives of native trees that adapt easily to the local conditions, we also aim at partnering with local communities at our operating units to promote plantation of species that can be socially beneficial' said Dr. Chand, in his address.
It may be mentioned that earlier as part of Van Mohoatsav week, mass plantation drives were also undertaken in Bhubaneswar in the premises of NALCO Corporate Office and NALCO residential areas.
