NCL bags two Greentech Awards in environment and CSR field

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has bagged two prestigious Greentech awards in the field of environment and CSR. NCL has been bestowed with the 22nd Greentech Environment Award 2022 for outstanding achievements in environmental protection and the 9th CSR India Award for employment-generating skills.

Chief Manager (Environment) Shri H.B. Shinde received the 22nd Greentech Environment Award while Shri Sant Ram, Manager (CSR) received the 9th CSR India Award on behalf of NCL at the award ceremony held in Guwahati on Tuesday.

NCL CMD Shri Bhola Singh and the Functional Directors of the company have congratulated the team NCL and said that the award is a testament to NCL’s initiative in the direction of Sustainability.

Keeping Environment and Sustainability on high priority, NCL has planted more than 2.53 Crore saplings since its inception. The company planted more than 6.79 Lakh saplings in 2021-22. The company is undertaking various pro-environmental initiatives like eco-restoration, use of energy-efficient technologies, development of eco-parks, etc to promote sustainable mining.

In the field of CSR, NCL has spent about Rs 740 crores in the last 8 years on the transformation of life in the Singrauli-Sonbhadra region.  In the year 2021-22, Rs 132.75 crores were spent on health, education, skill development, road construction, drinking water, infrastructure development, and other CSR works.

NCL is a Singrauli-based coal mining subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The company is contributing to fulfill the energy aspiration of the nation by dispatching over 125 Million Tonnes of coal annually.
