NCL contributes in knowledge sharing on global forum
Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited is contributing in the realm of knowledge sharing on global forum for sustainable development in mining. The company is participating in 28th International Symposium on Mine Planning & Equipment Selection (MPES-2019) being held at Perth in Australia from 2nd to 4th December.
The paper titled ‘Sustainable Development of Singrauli Coalfields in India, vis-a-vis Mining Equipment Selection & Environment and Ecology Management’ authored by CMD NCL Shri P.K.Sinha is being presented in MPES-2019. General Manager (Corporate Planning) NCL Shri Satish Jha has co-authored the paper.
Shri Sinha, through the paper, guided global mining community on meticulous mine planning and equipment selection implemented at NCL. The paper highlights various initiatives of the company for environmental and ecological management like strata blast for reducing the quantum of blasting and use of E-Detonators in dragline bench blasting to lower air blast and ground vibrations. The paper also deliberates on carbon offsetting in the region by energy conservation, improving efficiency in transmission and distribution of electrical power and diesel engines, using green power, extensive use of LED for lighting, replacing in-person meetings with video conferencing to reduce vehicle plying in the region, massive plantations and inducing behavioural transformation.
Notably, MPES aims at deliberating futuristic global mining advancements in alignment with region-specific mining conditions. Leaders and professionals of mining sectors from across the globe participate in the event consisting of conference, workshops, presentations, mine and technical visits focused to highlight, replicate and explore best practices from across the globe and convert it into standardised solutions.
