NHPC 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station During Massive Fire Outbreak At Singtam

Singtam: Quick Response by NHPC’s 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station during massive Fire Outbreak at Singtam, East Sikkim. The Fire Safety Division of NHPC’s 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station, Balutar, East Sikkim responded quickly to the massive Fire Outbreak incident which occurred on 16th June, 2020 at Lal bazaar, Singtam, East Sikkim. After receiving the call, Fire Men and Fire Engine (6500 Litre Water & High Pressure Range) promptly reached the spot within 15-20 minutes and put out the flames by 11:30 PM.

Shri Sahadev Khatua, General Manager (I/c), Teesta-V Power Station reached the spot immediately along with other senior officers and took part in rescue operations. Another team at Balutar, East Sikkim kept another water tank (9000 litre capacity) ready for switch response.

Dr. Mani Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Health care, Human services & Family welfare, Government of Sikkim thanked Shri Sahadev Khatua, General Manager (I/c), Teesta-V Power Station and his entire team for deploying fire fighting equipments and quick action to put off the flames. The local people of Singtam have expressed deep gratitude to NHPC for their help and support to limit the damage.
