New Delhi: Hon’ble Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R K Singh on Tuesday, August 30 chaired a review meeting to discuss the progress made by
North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO).
The meeting was attended by AS & FA MoP, Joint Secretary Ministry of Power, Chairman and Managing Director NTPC, Chairman and Managing Director & other officers from NEEPCO.
NEEPCO's main objective is developing the large power potential of the North Eastern Region of the country through planned development of the North Eastern Region, this region is blessed with the highest hydropower potential in the country which is estimated at 48000 MW constituting about 33% of the total reserves of the country.
At present, NEEPCO is contributing 625 MW out of a total installed capacity of 1649 MW in the North-Eastern Region, according to the official website of the power ministry.
