PSUs Should be a Role Model - CVC
New Delhi: Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are primarily commercial organizations competing with non-government organizations, nevertheless PSUs are expected to work as a model organization, said Shri K V Chowdary, Chief Vigilance Commissioner while addressing NTPC employees today at the SCOPE, Complex, New Delhi during his Inaugural Address of the Vigilance Awareness Week programme. He added that performance in numerical terms is not the only criteria for judging a PSU, the merit lies upholding high standards of integrity while dealing with all its Stakeholders.
Shri Chowdary further outlined how PSUs have an additional responsibility of serving the nation by introducing new initiatives in various spheres like R&D, Vendors Training & Development, Employees motivation besides creating awareness of Systems and Standard Operating Procedures. He praised the PSUs especially NTPC for their contribution to nation building.
CVC also interacted with the employees in an open house on the occasion and answered their queries.
Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD and Shri Rajit Punhani, CVO, NTPC and Senior officials of CVC and NTPC were present on the occasion.
Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC said that we at NTPC are committed to ensuring maximum transparency, accountability and minimum discretion in our business processes including mining and Integrity is engraved in our core values.
While welcoming the CVC, Shri Rajit Punhani, CVO, NTPC, said that the role of vigilance in the organization is to facilitate good governance and create an ecosystem for organizational excellence by involving all Stakeholders including the public at large.
The Vigilance Awareness Week is organized each year and during this period, public campaigns are carried out with the chosen theme. This year “Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India” is the theme for the Vigilance Awareness Week.
Vigilance Week is organized to promote integrity and eradicate corruption with public participation as it plays a very vital role in fighting corruption and in nation-building. Various outreach activities like Gram Sabhas, Street plays, radio jingles and competitions are being organized in schools, colleges, villages, towns and cities to spread the message of integrity.
