SAIL Inaugurates first Corporate Training Institute on Science of Happiness
Ranchi: Shri P.K. Singh, Chairman, SAIL inaugurated a Happiness Space – Kshemalaya (literally, Abode of Wellbeing and Prosperity) – at Management Training Institute of Steel Authority of India Limited in Ranchi on March 7, 2018. Developed in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur. It makes SAIL the first corporate house in the Country to embrace Science of Happiness to enhance wellbeing and effectiveness of its employees. All the functional Directors of SAIL Board and CEOs of the Integrated Steel Plants and ED (HRD) were present for the inauguration.
Shri P K Singh praised the initiative undertaken by MTI and expressed his confidence that interventions based on Science of Happiness would help SAIL immensely in enhancing employee engagement and overall productivity. He advised MTI to work towards translating the scientifically validated concepts of Science of Happiness to applicable solutions at the workplace in the plants and units of SAIL. He also expressed his confidence that Kshemalaya would propagate the Science of Happiness through the participants of MTI programmes and workshops and help make each workplace in SAIL happier and more productive.
As part of the initiative, various interventions are planned under the broad theme EMPOWER through Science of Happiness (Enhancing Motivation, Positivity and Optimism at Workplace for Engagement and Results through Science of Happiness), which will be conducted both at MTI and at plants.The first workshop, Train the Trainer, has already been conducted at IIT Kharagpur for SAIL employees to develop resource persons who will play a key role in disseminating the Science of Happiness.
