Shri Narendra Modi inaugurates IIM Campus, Executed by NBCC

New Delhi: Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the permanent campus of NBCC built Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur on 3.02.2024 in the august presence of Shri Raghubar Das, Hon’ble Governor, Odisha, Shri Naveen Pattanaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Bishweswar Tudu, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs and other dignitaries. 

On this occasion, Shri K.P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC said that the 200 acre IIM Sambalpur campus with 32 buildings having built-up area of 64,000 sqm has been completed by NBCC with sustainable and energy efficient features within time and cost. Regional Sambalpuri art has been embedded in the architecture of the campus buildings with traditional lkat pattern mapped into the brick facade with remarkable elegance.

IIM Sambalpur, a Beacon of Excellence: 

The campus of IIM Sambalpur has been developed at Basantpur village in Sambalpur district in the close proximity of NH53 and state highways. IIM Sambalpur had assigned NBCC for providing the “Project Management Consultancy” services for this project. NBCC shall also maintain the entire infrastructure facility for the next 2 years. 

The campus boasts several key blocks including the Administration, Academic, Auditorium, Innovation and Library Block, Faculty and MDP. Accommodation facilities include residence for faculty & staff and hostels for students and scholars. Additional amenities comprise shopping complex, activity block, sports & recreation facilities with an open-air theatre adding to the aesthetic appeal. 

The 4-star GRIHA rated sustainable campus follows energy efficient and ecologically sensitive principles of development. Living spaces are 100% day lighted thereby lowering artificial lighting consumption. The treated water from STP is being used for irrigation and flushing. Rooftop photovoltaic solar power plant, solar water heating systems and solar street lights contribute towards lower power consumption.

NBCC partnering in Odisha’s progress 

NBCC has been closely associated with the development key infrastructure projects in Odisha. Some of the key projects include 500 Bedded Medical College & Hospital, Talcher, Development of Sports Facilities for New Medical College, Science Academy, Development of Vyas Sarovar in Jajpur, IIT, Bhubaneswar, Ravenshaw University Cuttack, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, National Law University etc 

Apart from the above, NBCC has entered into building agri-infrastructure for construction of world’s largest grain storage plan in cooperative sector. Till now, 56 MoUs have been signed with various Primary Agriculture cooperatives and cooperative banks in the state. These storage units once created shall help the rural economy and benefit farmers.
