Shri S K Haldar WP and P wing taken a review meeting on at CWC
New Delhi: Sh. S.K. Haldar, Member Water Planning & Projects (WP&P) Wing has taken a review meeting on 26.02.2020 at CWC (Hq) regarding “West Bengal Major Irrigation and Food Management Project (WBMIFMP)” posed for External Assistance with World Bank & Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). CWC and World Bank officials attended the review meeting. From World Bank side, Mr. Ijsbrand Harkode Jong, Leader Water Resources and from CWC side, Chief Engineer, Irrigation Planning Organisation & Chief Engineer, Project Appraisal Organization, Director External Assistance and Project Appraisal attended the meeting.
External Assistance flows to the country in various forms; as multilateral or bilateral aid, loan, grants and commodity aid from various foreign countries and other donor agencies such as World Bank, Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC) and Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Ministry of Jal Shakti and its organizations assist the State Governments in tying up the external assistance from different funding agencies to fill up the resources gaps, both in terms of funds and technological update for rapid development of country's water resources. Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) act as nodal agency for such type of projects.
Central Water Commission (CWC) , being as a technical wing of the Ministry, Water Sector proposals, submitted by State Govt for External Assistance are being examined by the different specialized Directorates under CWC . Director, External Assistance is the nodal officer for the matter.
