Southern Railway operated 164 trips of Special trains in last 3 months to clear summer rush
To meet the demand for additional trains towards the Eastern sector, Southern Railway has operated a total of 164 trips of Special trains during the period in the last 3 months.

By proactively addressing passenger needs and introducing this special train, Southern Railway reaffirms its dedication to providing quality transportation services and ensuring a positive travel experience for all passengers.
Special trains to the Eastern sector-
To meet the demand for additional trains towards the Eastern sector, Southern Railway has operated a total of 164 trips of Special trains during the period in the last 3 months.

Read Also : THDCIL Women Team Brings Gold and Silver MedalsOf these 164 services, 16 services were operated as Unreserved special trains for the benefit of passengers traveling en masse to their native for festivals/holidays. This includes 46 services of special trains to West Bengal, 38 services to Bihar, 31 services to Odisha, 16 services to Assam, 18 services to Andhra Pradesh, 13 services to Jharkhand and 2 services to Uttar Pradesh.
The highest number of special trains (83 services) were run during May 2024 to meet the increased demand during the peak summer season. 21 services and 35 services were operated during March and April 2024 respectively.

It may be noted that in comparison, during the corresponding period of last year, the number of special trains operated during the current year has increased 5 fold, i.e. from March 2023 to 10th June 2023, to cater to the increase in demand of the Eastern sector passengers.
