NEW DELHI- The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, has recently celebrated the successful completion of 6 years of the Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme, an ambitious project aimed at revolutionizing the Indian aviation industry. The scheme has emerged as a pioneering initiative, promoting regional connectivity and economic development across the country.
Under this scheme, the Darbhanga Airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), has emerged as the top airport in the country. The airport has witnessed a remarkable surge in passenger traffic, with 6,81,945 arriving passengers and 7,06,931 departing passengers till March 31, 2023.
In just two years, the airport has seen a significant rise in passenger footfall, with numbers jumping from 1,53,232 in FY 2020-21 to 6,16,058 in FY 2022-23. The airport's impressive performance has made it the best-performing airport under the UDAN scheme.
