PM Modi to Launch World’s First Digital Traditional Medicine Library at WHO Global Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the world’s first Digital Traditional Medicine Library at the upcoming WHO Global Summit, providing global access to digitised traditional medicine knowledge.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the world’s first Digital Traditional Medicine Library at the upcoming WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine. The global platform aims to digitize and document traditional medical knowledge, making it universally accessible while validating ancient practices through modern scientific approaches.
The Digital Traditional Medicine Library will serve as a comprehensive repository of traditional systems such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Yoga, naturopathy, herbal medicine and other indigenous practices. It is designed to support researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals and global institutions in understanding and scientifically analyzing traditional knowledge.
Highlighting the importance of this milestone, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, said the idea for the library was inspired by the Prime Minister’s remarks at the BRICS Summit in July, where he spoke about creating a global digital repository for traditional medicine. He added that the initiative reflects India’s commitment to placing traditional healthcare systems on the global stage.
The launch marks a significant step towards integrating traditional medicine with digital innovation and global health frameworks. Officials believe the project will strengthen India’s leadership in traditional medicine and enable international collaboration for evidence-based research and sustainable healthcare solutions.
The Digital Traditional Medicine Library is expected to revolutionise global access to traditional health knowledge while preserving cultural heritage and promoting scientific validation of age-old healing systems.
