Shri Pema Khandu Visits NHPC’s 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project

Jammu, September 2, 2025. Shri Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, visited the 2880 MW Dibang Multi-Purpose Project on September 1, 2025. This visit highlights the state government's commitment to developing this major hydropower project, which aims to be India's largest.

The Chief Minister was joined by a group of dignitaries. This included Smt. Dasanglu Pul, Minister for Women and Child Development and Cultural Affairs, along with several MLAs: Shri Puinnyo Apum (Dambuk), Shri Mutchu Mithi (Roing), Shri Mopi Mihu (Anini), and Shri Oni Panyang (Geku-Mariyang). Senior officials from the District Administration of Lower Dibang Valley and NHPC also attended.
During the tour, the Chief Minister and the dignitaries looked at various parts of the project, including the CCTV system. Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, CMD and Director (Projects) at NHPC, gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing construction work.
While speaking to the crowd, Chief Minister Khandu highlighted the project's significance. He stated that it will bring great benefits to local communities and improve the nation’s energy security through sustainable development. He also assured NHPC of the state government's complete support for the smooth and timely execution of the project. The Dibang project is set to generate a significant amount of clean energy. It will also provide substantial benefits to the state through free power, a local area development fund, and will help manage floods in downstream areas.
