Dibang Valley, December 22, 2025:
Shri Niraj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, visited the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project on December 22, 2025, to review the progress of ongoing construction works.

During the visit, Shri Niraj Kumar inspected key project components, including diversion tunnels, powerhouse construction, project roads, bridges, and other associated infrastructure. He was welcomed at the project site by Shri Narender Kumar, Executive Director and Head of the Dibang Multipurpose Project, in the presence of senior officials of NHPC and representatives of the contracting agencies.

The Joint Secretary closely observed the construction activities and remarked that a project of this scale reflects the spirit of nation-building. He appreciated the dedication and commitment of the project team working under challenging conditions in the region.

Shri Niraj Kumar also assured full support from the Government of India to NHPC for the successful and timely execution of the Dibang Multipurpose Project, which is expected to play a vital role in strengthening power generation capacity and infrastructure development in the North Eastern Region.

The Dibang Multipurpose Project is one of India’s largest hydroelectric projects and is a key initiative aimed at enhancing energy security and promoting regional development.
