MCL concludes Annual Mines Safety Fortnight 2024-25

Sambalpur/ Talcher, 15 June 2025 : Annual Mines Saftey Fortnight 2024-25 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony at Lingaraj area, MCL.

Shri Ujjwal Tah, Director General of Mines Safety, Dhanbad, along with Shri Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman cum Managing Director, MCL and Member representatives of CISTEA, CMOAI, corporate JCC/Welfare/ Safety board inaugurated the ceremony by unfurling the safety flag and garlanding the coal miners statue.

Shri Keshav Rao, Dir. (HR), Shri P K Patel, CVO, Shri J K Borah, Dir. (Tech/Ops), Shri A K Behura, Dir.(Finance) And Shri S K Jha, Dir.(Tech/P&P), DDG,DMS,DDMS,Senior Officials, Area General Mangers of MCL were also present on this occasion.

DGMS, Shri Tah, in his address lauded team MCL for their continuous growth in coal production, despatch and OB removal. He emphasised that Safety is not just an operational requirement rather a behavioural need for our miners. The use of AI technology has enhanced the Saftey measures and it's check manifolds, he added.

The dignitaries gave away the prizes to winners of different competitions held during the  Annual Mines Safety Fortnight and for operational excellence.

Hirakhand Bundia Underground mines,  Orient Area was awarded as the best overall underground mines and Ananta OCP,Jagannath Area the best Mega Open cast mine. Similarly, Lajkura OCP, Ib Valley Area and Lingaraj OCP, Lingaraj Area stood as the best small and medium Open cast mines respectively.
