After extensive discussions with various stakeholders in Sri Lanka, the tariff for the 50 MW project, which can be expanded to 120 MW, has been finalized at 5.97 US cents per unit.

New Delhi:  NTPC, a power sector unit, is establishing a 50 MW solar project in Sri Lanka through a joint venture (JV) with the Ceylon Electricity Board. The JV, named Trincomalee Power Company Limited (TPCL), is being set up in Sampoor, located in Trincomalee.

After extensive discussions with various stakeholders in Sri Lanka, the tariff for the 50 MW project, which can be expanded to 120 MW, has been finalized at 5.97 US cents per unit.

This solar project aims to diversify Sri Lanka's energy mix, significantly enhance the country’s clean energy capacity, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. NTPC, operating under the Ministry of Power, is the largest power generation company in India.
