NTPC Talaipalli celebrates Independence Day

NTPC Talaipalli, on August 15, 2023, got immersed in the colours of patriotism and unity as the celebrations of Independence Day took over the air in the project. With the tricolour being the dominant shade, the Kosal Vihar Township, especially Bal Bhawan, looked exquisite.

The celebrations of Independence Day commenced with the Head of Project, Shri Somes Bandyopadhyay, hoisting the national flag with the national anthem being played in the background.

The chorus of the national anthem by the NTPC employees evoked a sense of oneness and national pride. Right after this, every one present at the grand event took the ‘Panch Pran Oath’ under the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ campaign fuelled by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. With the anthem and oath done, the crowd moved to the Bal Bhawan premise, where spectacular celebratory segments were waiting to be unfurled.

The HOP Talaipalli addressed the audience marking the beginning of the event. In his address, Shri Bandyopadhyay highlighted the achievement of the Talaipalli Coal Mining Project and congratulated all the employees for the growth and progress that the project saw in the past years. He also lauded the efforts by the project in fostering an overall development of the communities, including medical health camps, skill development training programs, and boosting infrastructural aspects of the local communities.

In his address, Shri Somes Bandyopadhyay, while pondering upon the highlights of the project, also reflected on the responsibilities and goals that are the paving blocks for the future path of the Talaipalli Coal Mining Project. While culminating his speech, he said, “As we celebrate this Independence Day, let us also renew our commitment to responsible mining practices, to preserving our environment, and to uplifting the communities in which we operate.”

Following this began the vibrant and colourful cultural program which was concocted by the very talented students from various government schools in the nearby areas. Traditional music, dance, and artforms truly created an aura of pride and harmony, and highlighted the rich cultural heritage of our country. The various performances bound the entire premise into a mesmerising patriotic fervour. 

The event then headed towards the felicitation of employees and contract workers who showcased exemplary dedication towards their role in the company. Along this momentum, the BUH Talaipalli also felicitated the participants who made the event a memorable one. The day got wrapped up with several competitive games among the employees where everyone erupted with team spirit and joy. Tug of War became the highlight of this segment.

The Independence Day celebrations, organised with the aim of commemorating the nation’s journey towards freedom and progress, became a memorable occasion for all employees and participants. It served as a platform to reinforce the cause of unity and diversity that defines India. Everyone went home with a strong sense of national pride and an enduring spirit for the nation’s growth.
