NTPC Unchahar takes pledge to make the Project ‘Plastic Free’
NTPC Unchahar celebrated World Environment Day 2025 with a walkathon, tree plantation, and CSR participation of 120 village girls under the Girl Empowerment Mission.

World Environment Day 5th June 2025 was celebrated with various programmes at NTPC Unchahar. On this occasion, a walkathon was organized in which NTPC and CISF employees, family members, senior officials participated with great enthusiasm and made Environment Day a success. On this occasion, Shri Abhay Kumar Srivastava, Executive Director (Unchahar) administered the oath for saving the environment to all the participants. In his address, Shri Abhay Kumar Srivastava said that to provide a good environment to children in future, we must pledge to make the NTPC premises a plastic-free zone.
Executive Director (Unchahar) along with Mrs. Anupama Srivastava, President (Priyadarshani Ladies Club), Shri Asutosh Biswas, General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), Mrs. Jhumita Biswas, Vice President (Priyadarshani Ladies Club), Executive Association and Union representatives, Heads of Departments, NTPC employees, CISF employees, family members and township residents planted saplings of fruit bearing trees in the township premises.
120 girls aged 12-14 years from nearby villages currently attending the residential Girl Empowerment Mission program under Corporate Social Responsibility also participated in the event enthusiastically. The dignitaries also gave prizes to winners of various competitions organized by Environment Department of NTPC.
