New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways, has achieved a major milestone in railway safety and modernization by securing a ₹454.95 crore order for implementation of the Kavach system across 1067 route kilometres (RKM) in the Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway.

Kavach is Indian Railways’ indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to prevent train collisions, over-speeding, and Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), significantly enhancing passenger safety and operational reliability.

Project Scope & Coverage

The project, to be executed under EPC mode, includes Survey, Design, Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of trackside Kavach systems across high-density and critical routes of the Jabalpur Division.

Key sections covered under the project include:

  • Itarsi – Manikpur

  • Mahdeiya – Bina Malkheri – Mahadeokheri

  • Entire Katni Complex

  • Bina Malkheri – Agasod

  • Satna – Rewa

  • Kaima – Sagma

  • Bansapahar – Ohan

The scope also covers installation of Kavach equipment at stations, level crossing gates, and Intermediate Block Signalling (IBS) locations, along with Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) works, tower erection, and associated civil, track, and electrical works.

The entire project is scheduled for completion within 960 days as per the EPC agreement.
