New Delhi, March 12, 2026: Shri Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), is set to complete his tenure on June 30, 2026. Shri Singh assumed charge as CMD on March 21, 2025, and has steered India’s only vertically integrated copper producer during a pivotal phase of operational expansion and strategic planning.

 

Tenure and Key Contributions

  • Position: Chairman & Managing Director, HCL

  • Assumption of Charge: March 21, 2025

  • Tenure End Date: June 30, 2026

Shri Singh has held multiple critical roles at HCL, including Director (Mining) since March 26, 2022, and additional charges as Director (Operations) from July 1, 2024, to March 8, 2025, and Director (Finance) from June 2, 2025, to July 28, 2025. His leadership has been instrumental in streamlining operations, optimizing mining efficiency, and expanding HCL’s project portfolio.

  • Education: B.Tech and M.Tech in Open Cast Mining from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad; MBA (Finance) from BIT Mesra, Ranchi

  • Career Milestones:

    • Started career at CMPDIL in 1987, holding key positions in mine planning and design

    • Joined NTPC Ltd. in 2008 as HOD Mine Planning & Design, overseeing coal block acquisition projects and training mining teams

    • Served as General Manager (Coal Mining) at NTPC

    • Represented India in India-Australia Energy Security Dialogue and visited Indonesia & Australia for coal block acquisition

  • Current Additional Roles: Director at Khanij Bidesh India Ltd (since March 21, 2025) and Managing Director at Chhattisgarh Copper Ltd (since May 21, 2025)
