SJVN 38th Raising Day: A big day for SJVNites

The 1988 incorporated PSU, SJVN Ltd, a hydropower generating CPSE, today on May 24, 2025, witnessed its 38th Raising Day. The company, which is a formation of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, today transform itself from a single hydro project to a Navratna CPSE. Back in 2024 the company bagged this status from its dedication and vision of giving India a clean and green energy.
On this occasion, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN, Shri Bhupender Gupta, has dropped a heartfelt message from his desk to SJVNites.
The Public Joint Venture unit is supposed to carve-out from the foothills of Himalayas where green and healthy environment is generating power outcome from renewable energy sources to lessen emission.
The Chairman and Managing Director had noted that “Since the last Raising Day, the company had successfully commissioned 410 MW of renewable energy projects. The company is yet progressing to achieve the milestone of 100 MW Nawa Solar Power Project in Rajasthan and is committed to commission 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar".

The company has came so far from single hydro project in 1988 to becoming a prestigious Navratna CPSE in 2024 and this evolution reflects a strong commitment of resilience and determination of every working employee of SJVN Ltd. This has referred to mould and transform the entity into key contributor towards India’s clean and green energy sustainability.
The company has achieved a greater milestone of distributing power generation to remote landscapes and filling out the stationary features of renewable energy resources.
Amid a strong will to achieve full operational capacity of the 1000MW Bikaner Solar Power Project very soon, as stated by CMD, the company is currently aiming to become a 25,000 MW unit by 2030 and 50,000 MW by 2040.

Till the current raising day, the company accounts for total operating hydropower capacity of 1972 MW through its three hydropower plants; Nathpa Jhakri, Rampur and Naitwar Mori. Further it has an installed capacity of 97.6 MW of wind power and 396.9 MW of solar power.
In addition with India’s Hydropower project, SJVN also has under-construction hydroelectric projects in Nepal and Bhutan.
Navratna Status to SJVN in 2024:
SJVN Ltd is a listed company with shareholders pattern consisting of 55.05% with Government of India, 26.85% with Government of Himachal Pradesh and 18.15% with Public. As per the paid up capital and authorized capital of SJVN is Rs 3,929.80 crore and Rs 7,000 crore respectively. Currently, the market capitalization of the company is standing at Rs 39.45K crore with total revenue generation of Rs 670.99 crore in December-end quarter.
On 31 August 2024, the company was conferred with prestigious Navratna status by Department of Public Enterprises, Government of India making it the 25th Navratna company. Earlier, in 2008 the company was coveted with Miniratna status.
