Indias solar cities play
NEW DELHI. Ministry of new and renewable energy implemented a programme—Development of Solar Cities—to meet at least 10% of India’s conventional energy demand by launching renewable energy projects.Sixty cities were shortlisted for the project, which included 13 pilot projects. government has planned to set up projects that would generate a total of 175gigawatt(GW) of renewable energy by 2022. Of this, 100GW is expected to be solar power projects, with 60GW coming from wind power projects. India has an installed capacity of 26.8GW of wind and 7.6GW of solar power at present.
