Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2016 presented to IIFCL

NEW DELHI .  Hon’ble President of India  Shri Pranab Mukherjee presented the “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2016 the“Highest National Award for encouragement of sports through corporate social responsibility to India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited ( IIFCL ) on August 29, 2016 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
 
India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has been supporting the training and development needs of Badminton and Archery athletes identified under the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) Scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Government of India.
 
IIFCL has allocated around 40% of its total CSR budget annually to developing sports in the country. Under the TOP scheme, IIFCL has committed Rs 30 Crore to create sporting champions, with a pledge to contribute Rs 10 Crore annually. The funds are being used for improvement in sports infrastructure and asset creation, including academies. IIFCL has also committed to provide funds for training and development of athletes to prepare them for 2020 Olympics.
 
Contribution made by IIFCL for TOP Scheme has been utilized for training of and purchase of equipment for badminton players such as Ms. Saina Nehwal, Ms. P.V Sindhu, Shri Srikanth Kidambi, Ms. Jwala Gutta, Ms. Ashwani Ponappa , Mr. Manu Atri, Mr. B Sumeeth Reddy and archery players such as Ms. Deepika Kumari, Ms. Laxmi Rani Manjhi , Ms. L Bombayla Devi and Shri. Atanu Das  under the TOP scheme.
 
IIFCL has been making endeavors through its CSR initiative to address various social development issues in the areas of Health, Drinking Water, Sanitation, Sports, Solar Electrification, etc. and has put in place a sound mechanism for due diligence, project monitoring and impact evaluation to ensure effective implementation of the project programs.
 
Ms. P V Sindhu, one of the Badminton athletes supported under the CSR initiative of IIFCL has won a silver medal at the Women Badminton Singles at the Rio Olympics 2016
