Royal Enfield’s ‘Mountain G.O.A.T.’ Is Back With a Bigger Engine and 6-Speed Gearbox

New Delhi: Royal Enfield has launched the new Himalayan 440 at the inaugural Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh, marking 10 years of the Himalayan adventure motorcycle brand. The motorcycle is priced at ₹2,29,000 (ex-showroom), with bookings opening across authorised Royal Enfield dealerships in India and on the company’s website from September 4, 2026.

The Himalayan 440 brings back the design and core character of the original Himalayan while adding a new 443cc long-stroke engine, six-speed gearbox and mechanical updates aimed at touring, durability and versatility.

New 443cc Engine and 6-Speed Gearbox

The Himalayan 440 gets a new 443cc long-stroke engine producing 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm. Royal Enfield says the engine is tuned for stronger all-round performance with improved noise, vibration and harshness levels.

A new six-speed gearbox is paired with the engine. Revised ratios are aimed at easier low-speed riding, while the sixth gear is designed to provide more relaxed highway cruising and long-distance touring.

Adventure-Focused Hardware

The motorcycle retains the Himalayan’s adventure-oriented chassis concept, with a half-duplex split-cradle frame, 41mm telescopic front forks with 200mm travel and a linkage-type rear monoshock with 180mm wheel travel.

It comes with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, 220mm ground clearance and an 800mm seat height.

Braking hardware includes a 300mm front disc with a two-piston floating caliper and a 240mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS is switchable for greater control across different terrain.

Touring Features and Accessories

The Himalayan 440 gets a 15-litre fuel tank, LED headlamp, digital-analogue instrument cluster, Tripper navigation and USB Type-C charging.

Royal Enfield is also offering accessories including hard panniers, top boxes, touring seats, adventure handguards, engine guards and other protection equipment.

The company has announced a 7-year extended warranty with Roadside Assistance across its motorcycle range. For eligible motorcycles, the extended coverage adds four years or 40,000 km, whichever is earlier, over the standard warranty period.

Ten-Year Himalayan Milestone

The Himalayan 440 marks a decade since the original Himalayan was introduced. Royal Enfield said the Himalayan brand, including the original Himalayan and the Himalayan 450 launched in 2023, has sold more than 320,000 units globally over the past 10 years.

The initial Himalayan 440 units will feature a special 10-year anniversary badge on the fuel tank.
