Guwahati, Assam: In a significant step toward advancing financial inclusion and economic development in Assam, a productive meeting was held between Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Shri Bijender Singh, Zonal Manager, Guwahati Zone, Punjab National Bank (PNB).

The discussion focused on strengthening the implementation of various government-sponsored schemes, with particular emphasis on the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, generating employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable economic growth across the state.

During the meeting, both sides explored strategies to enhance credit outreach and improve access to financial services for underserved communities. Key areas of discussion included support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promotion of self-employment opportunities, and expansion of banking services to strengthen grassroots economic participation.

The initiative aligns with the broader objective of fostering inclusive growth by ensuring that individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses have access to the financial resources necessary to expand their operations and contribute to the state's economic progress.

Punjab National Bank reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Government of Assam and other stakeholders in driving development priorities. Through targeted lending programs, financial inclusion initiatives, and support for entrepreneurship, the bank continues to play a vital role in promoting economic empowerment and sustainable growth.
