New Delhi: India’s largest Coal producer, Mahartana PSU Coal India Ltd and Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) has signed a remarkable agreement to enhance the quality of education for around 28,000 tribal students across 68 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMPRS) in Chhattisgarh.
With this, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Coal India Ltd has committed Rs10 crore to support digital education, health, and entrepreneurship programs for these students.
The Eklavya Model Residential Schools provides quality education to Scheduled Tribe (ST) children, making them enable for higher education and professional opportunities while ensuring their nutrition and overall development

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools provides quality education to Scheduled Tribe (ST) children, making them enable for higher education and professional opportunities while ensuring their nutrition and overall development.
Currently, 479 EMRS are operational nationwide and this collaboration aims to create a modern, innovative learning environment and foster equal opportunities for students from marginalized communities.
With the contribution of Coal India Ltd, there will be funding and establishment of computer labs with approximately 3,200 computers and 300 tablets to promote digital education.

Also, the program will include comprehensive mentorship for students and residential entrepreneurial boot camps at prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, and NIT to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among tribal youth.
The National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation has been implemented under Ministry of Tribal Affairs and this initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing equitable and inclusive education.
