The United States hosted the APEC Alliance for Supply Chain Connectivity (A2C2) Regional Roundtable in Mexico City on Tuesday, marking a significant step in advancing supply chain cooperation and digital trade across the Asia-Pacific region.

The initiative supports ongoing U.S. efforts to promote fairer and more balanced trade with its APEC partners while strengthening supply chain resilience and regional connectivity.

Building on APEC 2025 Commitments

The roundtable builds on commitments made during the APEC 2025 Third Senior Officials Meeting (SOM3) in Incheon, South Korea, where members emphasized the importance of expanding participation and adopting new approaches to private-sector engagement.

Through sustained leadership within APEC, the United States continues to play a key role in fostering secure, resilient, and diverse supply chains that enable businesses to recover quickly from disruptions while expanding commercial opportunities throughout the region.

Driving Digitalization and Best Practices

The Mexico City meeting featured extensive public-private dialogue, bringing together government officials and private-sector experts from APEC economies. Participants identified regional and global best practices in supply chain digitalization and discussed strategies to implement those practices within domestic systems — delivering tangible benefits for businesses and consumers in the United States and across the Asia-Pacific.

Panel discussions focused on the digitalization of trade and customs procedures, with speakers highlighting the importance of stakeholder engagement, change management, and workforce skill development as essential components for successful transformation.

A2C2’s Strategic Role

Established in 2014, the APEC Alliance for Supply Chain Connectivity (A2C2) serves as a key advisory platform for experts from governments, businesses, industry associations, multilateral institutions, and non-government organizations to contribute to APEC’s supply chain connectivity agenda.

U.S. officials reaffirmed that APEC remains a critical pillar of America’s foreign, trade, and investment strategy — supporting job creation, removing barriers to commerce, and strengthening economic prosperity across the region.
