How REC’s New Partnership with CPRI Will Deliver Reliable Power Across India
New Delhi: In a major step toward building a stronger electricity network, Maharatna REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI).
The main idea behind this partnership is to make sure that the equipment and materials used in power projects under the government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) are of top-notch quality and thoroughly tested.
The agreement was signed at the REC Corporate Office in Gurugram. Sh. Yogendra Singh, GM & HoD of PMD Quality at REC, and Dr. M.G. Anandakumar, Joint Director at CPRI, officially signed the documents. Several senior officials, including Sh. Prince Dhawan, IAS (Executive Director, REC) and Dr. Neha Adhikari (Joint Director, CPRI), were also present to mark this collaboration.
What Will This Partnership Actually Do?
To put it simply, REC and CPRI are teaming up to make sure our electricity distribution systems are reliable and safe. Here is how they plan to do it:
-
Independent Testing: CPRI will step in as an independent third party to test the materials used in RDSS projects, making sure everything meets strict standards.
-
Expert Help and Training: Both organizations will share technical know-how and run training programs to build stronger skills within the sector.
-
Better Quality Frameworks: They will work together to create solid guidelines that keep the quality of materials in check.
Ultimately, this joint effort is all about ensuring that the power infrastructure being built across the country is reliable, efficient, and ready to stand the test of time.
