PowerGrid and ICAR-IARI to work on a consultancy service project
The collaboration aims to demonstrate a unique, cost-effective, and eco-friendly wastewater treatment technology that is zero-chemical and zero-energy based for future self-sustaining and resilient village ecosystems.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The agreement aims to undertake a consultancy service project for implementing village-level domestic wastewater treatment through an eco-friendly wastewater treatment technology named ‘JALOPCHAR,' developed by Dr Ravinder Kaur, Principal Scientist at the Water Technology Center of ICAR-IARI.
The project will rejuvenate a village pond in the Adhyana Village of the Nakud Tehsil in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, through the Jalopchar technology-based treated wastewater.

The MoU was exchanged between Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director & Vice Chancellor, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, and Shri Arvind Kumar Rai, Sr GM, CC CSR, Powergrid, Gurgaon, in the presence of Dr Viswanathan Chinnusamy, Joint Director (Research); Dr PS Brahmanand, Project Director, Water Technology Center; Dr Ravinder Kaur, Consultant-Principal Scientist & Former Project Director, Water Technology Center; Dr. Pramod Kumar, In-Charge PME Cell from ICAR-IARI; Shri Sumit Gaur, DGM (CSR), NR1, RHQ, Faridabad; Shri Ajay Dua, Consultant (CSR), CC; and Shri Akhilesh Gaur, Engineer (CSR), CC from POWERGRID, Gurgaon.
