India’s Major Ports Hit Record 915 MT Cargo in FY 2025-26, Surpass Target by 7.06%
NEW DELHI – India’s major ports handled a record 915.17 million tonnes (MT) of cargo in FY 2025-26, exceeding the annual target of 904 MT and registering a 7.06% year-on-year growth, according to official data released today.
The milestone, announced by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, underscores a strong post-reform recovery, improved turnaround times, and capacity expansion under the government’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said: “This record performance reflects our commitment to world-class port infrastructure and seamless logistics, guided by PM Narendra Modi ji’s vision. We are on track to become a global maritime powerhouse.”
